FAQ
What's the difference between liquid wrap and vinyl wrap?
Is liquid wrap better than vinyl wrap?
Liquid wraps provide enhanced resistance to light damage, such as minor impacts, scratches, and rock chips, thanks to multiple polymer coats that make them about twice as thick as traditional vinyl wraps. They are also easily repairable and offer 100% adhesion to sharp edges without bubbling. The application process is knifeless, eliminating the risk of paint scratches from cutting the vinyl edges to complete the panel.
How long does it last?
Based on the experiences of hundreds of satisfied customers since 2012, the average duration for which a liquid wrap remains on a vehicle is between 3 and 4 years, with some lasting up to 6 years with exceptional care.
The liquid vinyl wrap is designed not to peel off on its own over time. With proper maintenance, the wrap can continue to look fresh and new for many years.
Liquid wrap will virtually last for years. It is very durable and will not lose its bond nor peel or bubble on its own as occasionally happens with vinyl wrap. After a few years, or during this period if desired, a new refresher coat can be easily applied on top at a reduced cost with the same color or a different one. Is not a "cheap" paint job version nor a way to mimic a normal paint job or vinyl wrap.
Is liquid wrap cheaper?
Yes, the application of liquid wrap involves only cleaning the vehicle and then applying multiple coats to achieve the desired thickness. There is no need to remove or reinstall parts of your vehicle, which saves significant time and labor. As a result, liquid wrap is often more cost-effective than traditional vinyl wraps or paint jobs.
What does Ozwraps™ do?
Ozwraps™ provides car dipping liquid wrap installation/application service.
What happens if I or someone else damage the removable coating on my car?
We will look after our customers very well and you can bring the car back to us for a fix at minimum charges. Touch-ups are fast to do and depending on the kind of damage, it can be next to nothing for small fixes.
How often should I wash my car?
Every time your car gets dirty, we suggest rinse it with clean water and if it really gets dirty, wash it by hand with a soft sponge and gentle soap. Dry it with a chamois cloth and apply the protective wax we supply to give that protection shield against scratches and heavy stains. You can read more about liquid wrap care & maintenance.
My car has been fixed by a panel beater after a small accident. Do I need to respray it or is possible to dip it on bare metal?
Is up to you if you want to respray the panel before dipping. Is perfectly possible for us to dip your car even on bare metal as long is smooth to the touch.
Do you sell DIY kits?
Not to the public or if you are a first-time user.
Do you provide a warranty on the application service you provide?
If it peel by itself, definitely yes, but we know it won't unless peeled by hand as is designed to do. We always aim to let customers achieve full satisfaction. Our service includes proper application and supply or premium liquid wrap only. After that, is really up to how the customer treats it. We can guarantee the liquid wrap won't peel off the car just by itself but if anything happens, we are here for you.
Is it possible to achieve a gloss finish?
Yes by applying normal automotive 2k clear coat but the cost and time to apply will push the total cost up similar to a vinyl wrap job (or cheap car respray paint job).
Do you offer pearls, chameleons, or any other finishes?
Yes, we do offer pearl, chameleons, iridescent, liquid chrome mirror silver, photochromic and thermochromic effects.
What should I do about gas or fuel spills?
If you spill fuel on your liquid wrap, do NOT touch it. Simply let it evaporate away and if the stain is left you can get in touch with us for an easy free fix.
Do you sand off my original paint job before applying the liquid wrap/dipping?
Absolutely not. When we dip the car, we only wash and take off old wax and/or polish with "paint safe" wax & grease remover to ensure a perfect and long-lasting bond on your car surface. That is a simple auto spa treatment. This is valid for older cars too. We do not perform any panel beating jobs but ONLY apply liquid wrap.
Will it hold up to the elements (sun, winter)?
Yes, is extremely resistant to the elements. A lot of customers actually dip their wheels and cars specifically to protect the original surface from the winter season and other nasty elements.
Does liquid wrap really peel off?
Yes. We always apply a minimum of 8 coats for durability and peelability however, peelability will largely depend on how is being maintained by the customer and will be harder to peel if you don't follow the simple maintenance process.
Will liquid wrap work exactly the same on every car, every surface?
Although liquid wrap products work and behave exactly the same for most users, there are certainly specific circumstances in which OEM car products could not behave as expected. The age of the car, the condition of the clear coat, if you have already done a DIY paint job on the surface with cheap clear 2k gloss, some brands of existing ceramic coatings, etc. are all possible factors that could affect already start to degrade the car paint condition before we start dipping and the new liquid wrap coating could behave in different ways. For this reason, ozwraps™ will not accept any responsibilities about longevity but is more than happy to offer full ongoing support to customers.
Could liquid wrap damage my clear coat?
Ozwraps™ has been using premium liquid spray wrap products on cars since 2012, and we NEVER experienced damage to the cars we have dipped. We only use premium "ready to spray" removable paint and we can assure your car paint will be 100% safe. We import from overseas.
My car's clear coat is peeling off. Can you still dip it?
Yes. It can be done but we will not include a warranty because we can still assure perfect bond on the car surface (in this case the clear coat) but your already damaged clear coat can get worse and detach from your car by taking the liquid wrap as well. If you only have a few small spots, we can sand around the peeling part only to smooth the edges of the peeling area otherwise will be visible. Bigger areas need to be fixed beforehand to avoid seeing the peeling edges.
How do I wash the dipped areas of my car?
Dipped cars can be easily hand washed and/or pressure washed with regular car wash soap. We suggest to wait a week or two before starting to wash your car with a pressure washer. We tested 1800 PSI 10 cm away and held perfectly. However, a distance of 20-30 cm is suggested.
Will liquid wrap protect my car from UV?
Yes. But however, UV will "eat" pretty much everything, even your stock paint. This is why some cars have their stronger and harder clear coats peeling off or faded.
- Liquid Wrap or Spray Wrap, is a liquid vinyl sprayed on your vehicle surface in multiple layers. Peelable.
- Vinyl wrap is a thin film stretched and stuck on your car's surface. Peelable.
